About Snatchr
A small app that saves videos and music, and asks nothing of you.
Why it exists
Saving a video usually means finding a website full of ads, pasting your link, waiting, clicking the wrong button twice and hoping the file is not broken. Snatchr replaces all of that with one shortcut on your keyboard.
It stays in the tray, does its job in the background and tells you when the file is ready. Nothing is uploaded anywhere and nothing is added to your taskbar.
How it works
Snatchr asks the site directly for the video, exactly as the page in your browser does, and saves the file to your computer. Everything happens on your machine – there is no server of ours in the middle.
On the first start it quietly downloads the small helper programs it needs and keeps them fresh. You never have to install or update them by hand.
What Snatchr does not do
- It is not a website. No account, no queue, no upload limits.
- It does not collect anything. Your links and files stay on your computer.
- It does not open what is closed to you. With cookies it acts as you, with the same access your own account has – nothing more.
- It is not a way around paid content. Anything you have not paid for stays out of reach.
Using it fairly
Snatchr is made for media you are allowed to have: your own uploads, content you own the rights to, or things you save to watch offline. Please respect the rules of the sites you use and the people who made what you download.
Videos on YouTube and other sites may be subject to DMCA protection. The authors of Snatchr do not endorse, and are not responsible for, the use of this application in means that will violate these laws. What you download, and what you do with it after, is your responsibility.

Зачем она нужна
Обычно, чтобы сохранить видео, надо найти сайт с рекламой, вставить ссылку, подождать, дважды нажать не на ту кнопку и надеяться, что файл не битый. Snatchr заменяет всё это одним сочетанием клавиш.
Он сидит в трее, делает своё дело в фоне и сообщает, когда файл готов. Ничего никуда не загружается, на панели задач ничего не появляется.
Как это работает
Snatchr спрашивает видео у сайта напрямую – так же, как это делает страница в браузере, – и сохраняет файл на компьютер. Всё происходит у тебя на машине, нашего сервера в середине нет.
При первом запуске он тихо скачивает нужные ему маленькие программы и держит их свежими. Ставить и обновлять их вручную не придётся.
Чего Snatchr не делает
- Это не сайт. Ни аккаунта, ни очереди, ни ограничений на размер.
- Он ничего не собирает. Твои ссылки и файлы остаются на твоём компьютере.
- Он не открывает то, что закрыто для тебя. С куки он действует от твоего имени и видит ровно то, что видит твой аккаунт.
- Это не способ обойти платный контент. То, за что ты не заплатил, останется недоступным.
Пользуйся честно
Snatchr сделан для медиа, на которое у тебя есть право: свои же загрузки, свой контент или то, что ты сохраняешь, чтобы посмотреть без интернета. Уважай правила сайтов и людей, которые сделали то, что ты скачиваешь.
Видео на YouTube и других сайтах может быть защищено законом DMCA и похожими законами. Авторы Snatchr не одобряют и не несут ответственности за использование программы способами, которые нарушают эти законы. Что скачивать и что делать с файлом дальше – решаешь ты.
