Questions people ask

Do I need to install anything else?

No. On the first start Snatchr downloads the small helpers it needs and keeps them up to date by itself. You do not need Python or a terminal.

Where do my files go?

Into the folder you choose. Every finished download can be opened in its folder, or copied with one click and pasted straight into a chat.

Why do I need cookies, and what are they?

Cookies are what a site uses to remember that you are signed in. Some videos are only shown to people with an account – 18+ posts, private ones, or posts from people you follow. Snatchr can borrow that from your browser so those links work too. Firefox is the easy choice; Vivaldi and Opera work as well.

Sign in with a spare account, not your main one, and keep it in a browser you don't otherwise use. Sites count requests per account, and Instagram in particular starts refusing them after a while – a throttled account recovers in about a day, but one that keeps hitting the limit can be restricted for good.

Can I download only a part of a video?

Yes. Set the start and the end before the download, or cut the piece out afterwards with the film strip.

My antivirus is unhappy. Is that normal?

It happens with new apps that are not signed by a big company yet. Snatchr is open source – the whole code is on GitHub, and you can build it yourself if you want.

Will it update itself?

Yes. When a new version is out you get a notification, and the app updates in place.

Нужно ставить что-то ещё?

Нет. При первом запуске Snatchr сам скачает нужные ему маленькие программы и будет держать их свежими. Python и терминал не нужны.

Куда попадают файлы?

В папку, которую ты выбрал. Любую готовую загрузку можно открыть в папке или скопировать одним кликом и вставить прямо в чат.

Зачем нужны куки и что это такое?

Куки – это то, чем сайт запоминает, что ты вошёл в аккаунт. Часть видео показывают только тем, у кого есть аккаунт: посты 18+, закрытые записи или посты тех, на кого ты подписан. Snatchr может взять это из браузера, и такие ссылки тоже заработают. Проще всего с Firefox, подойдут также Vivaldi и Opera.

Заходи запасным аккаунтом, а не основным, и держи его в браузере, которым больше нигде не пользуешься. Сайты считают запросы по аккаунту, и Instagram через какое-то время начинает отказывать: ограниченный аккаунт отходит примерно за сутки, а тот, который упирается в лимит постоянно, могут закрыть навсегда.

Можно скачать только кусок видео?

Да. Задай начало и конец до загрузки или вырежи нужный отрывок потом, по киноленте.

Антивирус ругается. Это нормально?

Так бывает с новыми программами, которые ещё не подписаны большой компанией. У Snatchr открытый код – он весь лежит на GitHub, и при желании программу можно собрать самому.

Он сам обновляется?

Да. Когда выходит новая версия, приходит уведомление, и программа обновляется сама.
